August 2022 PrismPOS Release Notes

Application updates from June 23 – July 20, 2022

Release to production: August 7, 2022

PrismPOS is the preferred point-of-sale solution for PrismCore and Mosaic. As additional functionality is added to Mosaic, application APIs are expanding to offer standard behavior regardless of a store’s inventory management system. Along with essential data exchange, there is an ongoing initiative to unify POS configuration, content management, and transaction processing within Mosaic. This application makes use of enhanced Mosaic APIs to exchange data.

Miscellaneous Enhancements and Bug Fixes (all stores)

Customer Accounts – Customer account numbers longer than 24 characters may now be used without error. The previous error caused by application logging was resolved.

Post Voids – Post voiding a transaction that includes items that can be rented or purchased now works as expected. In the previous release, PrismPOS presented a message “Error printing receipt” when such a void was initiated.

Receipt Reprint – Item discounts are correctly printed on a receipt reprint. Prior to this release, fixed dollar and variable dollar discounts were not included in reprinted receipts.

Receipt Search – A new search type “Last 4 of CC” has been added to the register’s Receipt Search. This option will help find transactions that were tendered by credit card.

Rentals – A couple of changes were made to provide better rental information at the register and allow more flexibility for rental transactions.

The Refund/Check In button now toggles between actions as expected. Before, attempting to toggle from Check In to Refund presented an error that prevented the cashier from proceeding.
Rental book information including Author, Title, and ISBN now correctly displays in the Customer > Rentals tab when viewed on the register. The book information was missing before.

Credit Card Communication Retry Logic – PrismRBS continues to improve credit card processing interfaces with each release. Code has been added to help prevent issues where a credit card payment was approved by Shift4 or Freedom Pay, but that message was not received by PrismPOS. While this fix may not address every situation that can occur, it does reconcile a known issue.

Miscellaneous Enhancements and Bug Fixes (Mosaic only)

Rental Refunds – PrismPOS no longer presents an exception error when refunding a Mosaic rental by receipt. This error was caused by a missing DCC value and has been fixed.

Thunder Admin tool (all stores)

Parameters – Some parameter updates were delivered to support new functionality, simply support, and expand existing capabilities.

Configuration > POS Setup > Parameters tab - A new user interface to manage Watchman Payments parameters was added. This new screen was added to support forthcoming Watchman integration.
POS Parameters > POS Setup > Parameters tab - Authorized PrismRBS staff may now edit a register’s Authorization ID in. This restricted capability allows PrismRBS to be more responsive to some configuration requests.
POS Parameters > POS Setup > Sequence Series - Sequence names between 25 and 32 characters are now allowed. Names that exceed 32 characters will be rejected, and an error message will appear.

Tender Conversion – Several updates were made to manage foreign tender conversion in this update.

The Conversion Rate field in Thunder Admin Tool > POS Parameters > Tenders has been made more intuitive. Rather than a single Conversion Rate (from foreign to local currency) the Admin tool now includes a Conversation Rate "table" where the local currency is hard coded and the foreign currency can be assigned a foreign currency name.
The conversion amount is now displayed on the tender screen in a message similar to "Total due in <foreign currency> at <conversion rate> = <converted amount>".
The conversion rate was added to the receipt.
