October 2023 PrismPOS Release Notes

Application Updates from: Aug 1 - Sept 30, 2023

Release to Production: October 8, 2023

Application version: 2.0.584

PrismPOS is the preferred point-of-sale solution for PrismCore and Mosaic. As additional functionality is added to Mosaic and PrismCore, application APIs are expanding to offer expected behavior regardless of a store’s inventory management system. Along with essential data exchange, there is an ongoing initiative to unify POS configuration, streamline content management, and enhance transaction processing quality.

Shift4 CC Direct Integration

A streamlined integration with Shift4 provides more robust transaction processing.

  • For clients using Shift4 on PrismPOS 2.0, credit card processing has now been simplified with a direct connection between the POS device and the UTG. This change significantly reduces routing of credit card authorization requests and allows each register to have an independent connection to credit processing.

Note: This change will require assistance from PrismRBS staff. If you are interested in enabling this change at your store, please contact your account representative or reach out to info@prismrbs.com

Register Interface

Mosaic AR Account DCC Restrictions

As previously supported for PrismCore, POS systems now handle DCC rules associated with Mosaic AR Accounts.

  • AR allow/disallow purchases for DCCs will flow to the POS register from Mosaic.

  • AR discounts for DCCs will flow to the POS register from Mosaic.

  • POS cashiers will now see appropriate discounts where DCCs are configured in Mosaic ARs.

Customer Active / Inactive

For Mosaic users, POS now checks to see if a customer is active or inactive before allowing the transaction to complete.

  • If a customer is active, the transaction completes correctly.

  • If a customer is inactive, the message is given: “Notice: Customer is inactive. Please assess eligibility before continuing with the sale”

    • NOTE: This is just a warning message. The user can continue with the transaction with a customer who is inactive.

ID Required Prompt

  • A cashier will now see a prompt when an item is flagged as having ID required.

    • When the “ID Required” flag in PrismCore > Inventory Management > Item Maintenance is checked, the register prompts for an ID as expected. This parameter did not function as expected in the prior release.

    • When an item is manually set to ID Required, the message is given: "This item [SKU] requires you validate the purchaser's ID.  Is this purchaser eligible?"

Variants Show on Main Screen

  • A change has been included so that the variants and barcode values display on the item line for both sales and refunds. Before, in order to see variants (size, color) at the register, an item’s Details button had to be pressed.

Phone Extensions

  • If a customer has the Phone Ext filled in Customer Maintenance in PrismCore, the Ext will now populate on the register in Customer Detail.  Change to Ext at the register will also flow correctly to PrismCore. The use of Ext was not supported in previous PrismPOS applications.

    • A corresponding field was also included in the POS Admin interface at POS Admin > Customers. The values in this field change when updated at POS and PrismCore.

Receipts

  • When a serialized transaction is completed using multiple tenders, the transaction now completes correctly and prints the receipt without error. Previously, when a transaction with an associated serial number was processed using split tenders, receipt printing gave the error “Error Printing Outer Receipt”.

  • The information setup for a No Sale receipt in Thunder Admin > POS Parameters > Receipts now prints correctly. Prior to this release, No Sale receipt information was not being printed on the receipt.

Bug Fixes & Minor Changes

  • The "What's New" Link on the POS Admin page has been changed to point to the public release notes page in Confluence.  Before the change, logging into Thunder Admin would displayed obsolete release notes. Now a PrimsPOS image is displayed, and the “What's New” link takes a user to the public release notes page in Confluence.

  • Sales with Weights and a Transaction Discount involved now process and export correctly without error. Previously, sales that met the prior conditions failed to export from PrismPOS, leading to data inconsistencies in reporting.

  • Alerts and confirmation prompts have been standardized across Thunder Admin. Previously, alert and confirmation prompts used various designs to accomplish the same thing.

  • When the "Require Signatures on Rentals" checkbox is checked in Thunder Admin Tool > Configuration > POS Setup > Parameters tab, only one signature is required. Before this update, two signatures were being required, one for the tender and one for the guarantee tender.

  • If a number exceeding 25 characters is added in the Tax Exempt Number field, the message “A Tax Exempt Number cannot exceed 25 characters” is displayed. Previously, the Tax Exempt Number field at the register in Transaction Details held an unlimited amount of characters even though the database could not hold more than 25 characters without causing errors.
