November 2022 PrismWeb Release Notes
Application updates from September 24 – October 28, 2022
Release to production: November 9, 2022
PrismWeb is widely used as the e-commerce solution for PrismCore and Mosaic. Application APIs provide consistent behavior regardless of a store’s inventory management system. Along with essential data exchange, there is an ongoing initiative to unify website configuration, content management, and order processing within Mosaic. In Spring 2022, PrismRBS announced an initiative to transition all clients to Mosaic eCommerce powered by Vortx as the preferred front end website for PrismCore and Mosaic system users. To ensure continued online selling and enable transitions to Mosaic, support for PrismWeb will be maintained as clients transition to Mosaic eCommerce.
Campus eBookstore Integration
To expand digital course content options, Campus eBookstore (aka CEI) is now integrated with PrismWeb. By application design, this integration enables CEI content sales both online and in-store. Upon completing content discovery via the CEI website, store-specific digital content catalogs include CEI-supported products. As long as these products are added to the PrismCore or Mosaic product database, shoppers may purchase CEI digital content online or in-store. The following PrismWeb components were updated to support this new digital content integration.
Digital Content Synchronizer - In an expansion of previous to digital content discovery, the synchronizer will now retrieve store-specific CEI catalog data that was created via CEI’s discovery tool. This synchronization ensures that CEI content is available as part of a store’s product mix.
Digital Content API - This application interface was updated to enable CEI content purchase and returns requests. When requests are initiated, PrismWeb interfaces will validate the availability of content and initiate a purchase or refund request. Successful validation generates a redemption url for use by the Digital Content Plugin.
Digital Content Plugin - This utility was updated to save redemption urls to receipts and/or send emails upon purchase.
If you are interested in setting up CEI integration, please refer to Campus eBookstore (CEI) Setup and Configuration - December 2022 for detailed instruction.
Digital Content Redemption (all vendors)
The process for shoppers to redeem digital content has been changed for ALL digital content providers. Prior to this release, shoppers received access codes, redemption urls, and digital content support directly from third-party content providers. Moving forward, your store will become the initial, and likely single, point of contact for digital content redemption. Point-of-sale receipts (printed and emailed), and on-line orders will include a link to ‘REDEEM YOUR BOOKS’ in the transaction details. The redeem books link will direct shoppers to a single webpage with instructions for shoppers to add digital content to their personal library from CEI, RedShelf, or VitalSource as supported by your store. The redeem book link will be specific for each transaction to seamlessly direct shoppers to the specific digital content they purchased. This update and change of workflow ensures consistent store messaging, enables localized customer service, and captures all digital sales for future review.

PrismWeb Manager
For website managers, saved orders now show digital content redemption urls on order detail pages and in digital content basket detail pages. This update allows stores to view and resend redemption information via email if needed.
PrismWeb Website
For shoppers, PrismWeb now displays digital content redemption urls on receipt pages and in order history. This update allows shoppers to retrieve misplaced redemption information.
Miscellaneous Updates
Verba Collect (PrismCore) - To reduce the number of API calls, the course lookup API was updated to include course materials information with course term lookup. Also, estimated enrollment information gathered via Verba Collect is interpreted correctly now. A previous bug when parsing this information has been fixed.
