March 2023 PrismWeb Release Notes

Application updates from January 21, 2023 – February 24, 2023

Release to production: March 12, 2023

PrismWeb is widely used as the e-commerce solution for PrismCore and Mosaic. Application APIs provide consistent behavior regardless of a store’s inventory management system. Along with essential data exchange, there is an ongoing initiative to unify website configuration, content management, and order processing within Mosaic. In Spring 2022, PrismRBS announced an initiative to transition clients to Mosaic eCommerce powered by Vortx as the preferred front end website for PrismCore and Mosaic system users. To ensure continued online selling and enable transitions to Mosaic, support for PrismWeb will be maintained as clients transition to Mosaic eCommerce.

The site search capabilities have been improved in several ways to ensure that shoppers see similar details that are found when browsing catalogs.

  • Via PrismWeb Manager, users may choose which product types to include in site search. (See PrismWeb Manager - System Setup below)

  • Digital content may now be included in search results. Before digital content was only found via textbook lookup.

  • Search results now include promotional pricing.

  • Out of stock display settings are now honored in search results for all enabled product types, not just course materials.

  • Search now supports non-alphanumeric characters.

  • A product’s inventory tolerance is honored in search results, and items are displayed per site rules.

  • Catalog start and end dates are considered to only display items from active catalogs.

PrismWeb Manager (Miscellaneous changes)

System Setup - In Setup > Site Options > ‘Site Search Results’ user may now select which product types, GM, Textbooks, Tradebooks, Digital Books, to include in site search.

Email Templates - Additional validation has been added to email templates to warn users of necessary values. In a previous version, one could save incomplete template updates that were necessary to enable automated email delivery.

Users - In Setup > Users there is a new role, ‘Store Manager’, to allow one to reset the sftp password of other store users. This change mitigates the need for PrismRBS staff assistance when a store need to reset a forgotten sftp password. Additional capabilities may be attached to the Store Manager role over time.
