August 2023 PrismWeb Release Notes

Application updates from March 22, 2023 – April 19, 2023

Release to production: August 9, 2023 and July 19, 2023 (Hotfix)

PrismWeb is widely used as the e-commerce solution for PrismCore and Mosaic. Application APIs provide consistent behavior regardless of a store’s inventory management system. Along with essential data exchange, there is an ongoing initiative to unify website configuration, content management, and order processing within Mosaic. In Spring 2022, PrismRBS announced an initiative to transition clients to Mosaic eCommerce powered by Vortx as the preferred front-end website for PrismCore and Mosaic system users. To ensure continued online selling and enable transitions to Mosaic, support for PrismWeb will be maintained as clients transition to Mosaic eCommerce.

PrismWeb Manager

Textbook Search

Improved search functionality to prevent an error that occurred when searching for textbooks with multiple NEW or USED product SKUs.

Null Product Family Names

Blank Product Family names no longer error in PrismWeb manager. Fixed an issue where, if a product family name is null, PrismWeb Manager will throw a server error when trying to search for products.

Prevent Spaces in Usernames

PrismWeb Manager users attempting to add a username with a space will now be prevented from doing so within the UI. This ensures that no additional unexpected behavior will be caused by users with a space in the username.

PrismWeb Sites

Taxable & Non-Taxable DCCs (Hotfix)

The estimated tax in the PrismWeb shopper’s cart will respect taxability per product. This was done by updating the web API to include Mosaic’s DCC taxable flag per product when updating website data.

Accessibility of Menus

For the latest PrismWEB default templates, clients can now take advantage of improved accessibility in the site navigation bar for shoppers using keyboards and/or screen-readers:

Navigation now allows the shopper to tab across all parent level menu items without having to tab through the sub-menus. Shoppers can access sub-menus by pressing enter on the keyboard when the parent is highlighted.

Variant Types (Hotfix)

Mosaic users connected to PrismWeb can now enter variants in Mosaic without having to be mindful of the order in which variants are entered. Each variant type will be included in the data sent between Mosaic and PrismWeb, allowing PrismWeb to display variants correctly no matter the order they are added to Mosaic.

Digital Content

Custom VitalSource Catalogs

PrismWeb now enables a seamless adoption of titles and pricing from both the VitalSource digital catalog and any custom catalogs the store has created.

Stores can now adopt custom titles through VitalSource, enabling a greater variety in their offering
PrismWeb will prioritize store-specific titles, allowing stores to sell a book at a preferred price, or sell a unique title not found in the VitalSource catalog.
New custom catalogs from VitalSource will be available every morning during the automated content synchronization process.

Users can enable the "Get Custom Books" feature in the Digital Content Setup page in PrismWeb Manager.
