Mosaic product image resizing

Until resizing functionality is added to Mosaic, it’s important to upload product images that are a respectable size, to help facilitate faster page loads on your website.

There are many free and paid tools available for this task, but if you need to be able to process multiple images at once, you’ll need something capable of batch processing.

If you’re on a different web platform your desired image size may be different, but here we are going to pretend you’re on PrismWeb, where 800px is the width we’re shooting for on that template, for product images.

FastStone Photo Resizer
For this example we’ll use FastStone Photo Resizer, which is free and can do batch resizing among other things. You can download it here: https://www.faststone.org/FSResizerDownload.htm

Once you have that installed go ahead and open the program and follow these steps:

  1. In the left pane, navigate to the folder where you’ve added your photos that need resizing.

  2. Select particular images from the folder and click the Add button to add them to the right pane, or simply hit the Add All button if you want to resize everything in that folder.

  3. Check the Used Advanced Options box in the right pane, then click that Advanced Options button that becomes available.

  4. From the modal that pops up, check Resize on the Resize tab to bring up the settings. Make sure the “Resize based on one side” radio button is selected, then have Predefined Side set to Width, then enter 800 for the pixel value, and then check the box “Do not resize if image is already smaller than requested size”, then click OK.

  5. Back in the right pane, click Browse next to Output Folder and tell the program where you want it to put your newly resized images, then click OK.

  6. Click the Convert button in the lower right of the right pane. It will pop up a dialogue that shows the results, and you can check Open Containing Folder if you want, then click Done.
