WPServer Configuration for Course Import

When setting up WPServer for Course Imports, it is important to note there are TWO set up screens. Each screen is outlined below. Please work with PrismRBS ICS Support if you have any issues or questions on setting up the imports.

To Configure WPServer for Course Imports:

  1. Be sure the WPServer that matches the PrismCore version is installed on the machine.
  2. Open WPConsole.
  3. There should be a line, for All Locations, where the service is named “WinPrism Import/Export Interface”.  If there is not, contact Support to have the line added.
  4. Right click the “WinPrism Import/Export Interface” line.
  5. Choose “Properties” from the mouse options.

Remember there are TWO transfers, one from the original import file to prism_trn, and one from prism_trn to the tables of PrismCore. The setting on the first screen controls the SECOND transfer. Recommended setting is 10 minutes.

  • Course Import Filename: Wild cards can be supported such as course*.csv but it is not recommended that the suffix be a wild card as the program will add err to a file with errors.
  • Course Import Format: Most often, this will be tab delimited or comma delimited. The other options will generally NOT be used. Choose the format for the file.
  • Course Import Transport: There are three choices for loading import files, FTP, Command Line or No Transport.
    • No Transport: This setting means that the store will manually place the import file into the proper directory (the directory you chose for “Course Import Path” above.)
    • FTP: This setting is used when the store will connect via FTP and download the file automatically.  The FTP server information is enter in the parameters below.
  • Course Custom Import ID: This will be blank unless the store is using a custom format then it will be set by NBC when the custom is installed.
  • FTP Server: This field is used to designate the IP address of the machine that has the import file on it, IF USING FTP TRANSPORT. If not, leave this blank.
