Course Material Imports

General Information for All Imports

For all types of imports, the files are very specific. The key to getting these files to work is making sure the following are correct:

  • The campus MUST exist in PrismCore.
  • The term MUST exist in PrismCore, and must be added for the correct campus.
  • The file MUST be properly formatted.

The course import has different information in it than the section import file, as does the enrollment import file. If the store is planning to use both course and section imports, and does not want to manually attach the departments, etc., they need to first do the section import, then the course import, then the student enrollment import.

The section import will bring in the departments, instructors, course names, enrollment, and section comments.  This will create the course request with all information other than the course comment and course description.  This information will be imported with the course import.  The student enrollment will then bring in the student ID, and attach them to their corresponding course requests.

Workflow

  1. Create the import file (see the applicable section for proper format).
  2. Set up WPServer, as needed.
  3. Activate the Services.
  4. Place the import file into the appropriate directory.
  5. If using only course imports, you will now need to add course requests.
  6. If using section imports, you can now add titles to the newly created course requests.
