KB37: Terminal VT100 Emulation Issues

It recently came to the attention of the RBS System Engineers that a package provided by the yum update manager is causing VR specific terminfo definitions to be overwritten on VR servers. If you plan to or have recently installed any of the following packages:

ncurses-5.7-3.20090208.el6.x86_64
ncurses-base-5.7-3.20090208.el6.x86_64
ncurses-libs-5.7-3.20090208.el6.x86_64
ncurses-libs-5.7-3.20090208.el6.i686

You may now notice that the POS.VR Interface is no longer displaying properly. An example of this issue can be seen below:

To resolve this issue RBS ships with a utility to rebuild affected terminfo definitions. Please have your System Administrator complete the following steps:

1.   Login to system as root or sudo user.

2.   If sudo run:

  $ sudo su -

3.   Run following commands:

  $ . /dbms/scripts/functions
  $ rebuild_terminfo /dbms/uv/terminfo/v/vt100.rbs

4.   Have your POS users logout completely and back in.

If you need assistance with this procedure please contact RBS Support
