Initial Installation vs. Software Update

If you are installing the Nebraska book company suites of software on your EDA/PDA for the first time, you should skip step 9 because this is used when updating the software. Start your directions with step 10.

  1. To update the software, we are first going to find the directories where the old versions existed and delete them. Then we will install the new versions as if we were installing the programs for the first time.
    1. Depending on the Suites you have loaded on your computer, you may have to locate up to 4 different folders:
      1. \Windows\Start Menu\Programs\NBC
      2. \Program Files\NBC Suite 1 (2 and/or 3)
    2. Delete these folders and their contents

Note: It is best to delete the old folders as specified. However, you may not have the ability to see and/or access all the folders. Delete all that you can see. If you were unable to delete all the folders, the installation of the new version will give you a message telling you that the previous version will be removed before the new one is installed and ask you to confirm this. It will also ask you to choose the file location (which will be Device). Once confirmed, the program installs the new software on the EDA/PDA.

  1. Now you must get the software to install your suites from the Nebraska Book support website at www.support.nebook.com.
    1. On the support website, locate Other Downloads, scroll down until you see the PDA/EDA information box. Your choices are:
      1. Suite 1 Download
      2. Suite 2 Download
      3. Suite 3 Download
  2. Select the Suite you wish to download and double click. The program will begin the download after you enter the password for the Suite. Each Suite will have its own unique password. You should have received a password for each suite you have purchased from Nebraska Book Company.


  1. Once you type the correct password, a window will come up and confirm that the password is correct. Press OK to accept this message.

Entering the password grants you access to the site that has the Suite you need to install. You initially will be grabbing the install file and placing it on your desktop, then moving it to the correct directory on the EDA and finally, running it from the EDA to extract the programs.

  1. On the support website, locate Other Downloads scroll down to the EDA section of the screen and double-click Suite1Install.cab (or Suite2Install.cab/Suite3Install.cab depending on which suite you are installing).
  2. Windows will ask you what you want to do with the SuiteInstall1.cab file. We recommend you choose Save As and save it on your desktop.
  3. Now copy SuiteInstall1.cab (or 2/3) file from your computer to the \Windows\Start Menu directory on your EDA.
  4. Take the EDA out of the cradle and on the EDA use File Explorer to locate the .CAB file you just put on the EDA in the \Windows\Start Menu folder.
  5. Single click the file. The new applications will be extracted to the \Program Files\Suite1 (2/3) folders. Shortcuts will be put in the \Windows\Start Menu\Programs\NBC folder and the install file will be automatically deleted.
  6. Repeat this procedure for each suite you purchased from NE Book company making sure to use the correct password for each different suite.
