PrismWeb Azure Transition for Tender Retail Customers

Questions for Tender Retail customers:

Why can’t Tender Retail be used within the Azure environment?

Because security is our top priority, we will only be supporting payment gateways that remove or reduce PCI scope for both the web platform and our customers. As a result, the new platform will not support payments from Tender Retail. Shift4 and MiraPay both offer end-to-end point encryption of credit card data through their iFrame solutions.

As a Tender Retail customer, what are my options?

The best option for Tender Retail users is to transition to the Shift4 payment gateway for PrismWeb as soon as possible. The benefit to your store is that Shift4 offers point-to-point encryption and tokenization of credit card information. P2PE encrypts cardholder data right at the terminal, so sensitive cardholder data never enters the merchant’s environment, and tokenization replaces stored credit card data with random, alphanumeric value that is useless to data thieves.

Is Shift4 available in Canada? I thought it wasn’t.

Shift4 is available in Canada, however, they currently cannot provide P2PE pin pads that can be used in Canada due to the laws regarding data transfer across border lines.

What are the issues regarding the use of Tender Retail in-store on POS versus for PrismWeb payment processing?

From an eCommerce perspective, Tender Retail puts our system in PCI scope as it does not offer payment tokenization or an iFrame solution.

What are the implications of using Tender Retail in-store for POS transactions?

If implemented according to standards, there is minimal risk at the POS/Core side for PCI, because the systems do not touch the credit card information.

What version of PrismCore do you need to be on in order to move to Shift4?

In order for Shift4 to function properly, you must upgrade to at least version 28.2.7.7 and be on Win 10. This may mean you will have to upgrade registers as well, if you are on, for example version 25 of PrismCore. Our team is here to assist you through this process.

What does the Shift4 transition process look like?

  • We will assist you throughout the transition process and have made arrangements with Shift4 to accomplish the immediate need for eCommerce transactions without impacting your current in-store setup or limiting your future vendor options.

  • We have established a reseller agreement with Shift4, which means that your contract is with PrismRBS instead of Shift4, and as a result, you are not locked into a set contractual period that limits your future vendor options.

  • The costs associated with migrating to Shift4 will be minimal. Depending on your setup, there will be an initial fee, plus a per-transaction fee. To get additional information on costs please email info@prismrbs.com.

How do I initiate the transition process to Shift4?

  1. To get started with the Shift4 transition, it’s important to contact us as soon as possible at info@prismrbs.com.

  2. We’ve been working diligently with Shift4 to create a seamless transition plan.

  3. In order to get you set up on Shift4, there are a few things we need from you, including a signed contract addendum and a completed VAR sheet. Please note, you’ll need to engage with your bank in order to obtain the necessary details for the VAR sheet. After you initiate your transition process with us, we encourage you to contact your bank.

  4. You also need to update to the latest version of PrismCore (28.2.7.7) prior to the transition.

What does the set up process look like?

  • While collecting the information for the VAR, we ask that you make a determination on whether you’d like a virtual or physical communication controller (also known as universal transaction gateway - UTG).  This is a small computer that will enable your PrismCore instance to communicate with Shift4.  Specifications will come with your agreement.

  • Once you submit the necessary documentation to info@prismrbs.com, we will provide Shift4 with the completed VAR and your account will be enabled within 24-48 hours.

  • During this timeframe, our team will engage with you to schedule and install a Shift4 application that can run on your UTG.

  • After your account has been enabled and we have installed the UTG, we will configure your PrismWeb instance to utilize the Shift4 services and migrate you to the Shift4 iframe

  • Our main focus at this time is transitioning the ecommerce platform

When will Freedom Pay be available as a payment provider?

The timeframe is still unconfirmed. PrismWeb, PrismPOS and PrismCore are currently undergoing development and certification process for Freedom Pay. At this point, we do not have estimated completion dates for these initiatives.
