Downloading VisualRatexHelp
When you download the zip file, you may receive a security warning when you try to open the VRHelp.chm file. If you receive this warning, you must UNCHECK the Always Ask Before Opening This File checkbox.
Note: Leaving the checkbox checked will not display the Help correctly.
If the above solution doesn't work, right-click the VRHelp.chm file and select Properties. under General tab, is there an Unblock button? If there is, select Unblock and try to view VisualRATEXHelp again.
Viewing VRHelp on a Network Drive
Microsoft recently released a security patch that makes it impossible to view .CHM files that are stored on a network drive (as opposed to .CHM files stored on your own computer). The help file will appear, but instead of the topic text you will see an error message "this page cannot be displayed".
If you trust all the computers on your LAN or intranet (and the people using them), you can lower the restrictions on the Local Intranet zone to allow .CHM files to be displayed with the following steps:
- Select Start, select Run, type regedit, and then select OK.
- Locate and then select the following subkey: HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\HTMLHelp\1.x\ItssRestrictions
- If this registry subkey does not exist, create it.
- Right-click the ItssRestrictions subkey, point to New, and then select DWORD Value.
- Type MaxAllowedZone, and then press Enter.
- Right-click the MaxAllowedZone value, and then select Modify.
- In the Value data box, type 1, and then select OK.
- Quit Registry Editor.
