WPServer Configuration for Section Import
When setting up WPServer for Section Imports, it is important to note there are TWO set up screens. Each screen is outlined below.
To Configure WPServer for Course Imports:
- Be sure the latest WPServer is installed on the machine.
- Open WPServer.
- There should be a line, for All Locations, where the service is named “WinPrism Import/Export Interface”. If there is not, contact Support to have the line added.
- Right click the “WinPrism Import/Export Interface” line.
- Choose “Configure” from the mouse options.
- The following dialog will display:
- In the header of the screen, there is a field “Run service Every”. This field controls how often PrismCore pulls information into the course request tables from the prism_trn database. Remember there are TWO transfers, one from the original import file to prism_trn, and one from prism_trn to the tables of PrismCore. The setting on the first screen controls the SECOND transfer. Recommended setting is 10 minutes.
- In the detail of the screen, check the checkbox next to the “Univ Section Import” line.
- Highlight the “Univ Section Import” line.
- Click the “Properties” button, located at the lower left of your screen.
- The following dialog will appear:
- In the Execture Time Tab, there is a field “Run service Every”. This field controls how often WPServer transmits information to the prism_trn database from the original import file. Remember there are TWO transfers, one from the original import file to prism_trn, and one from prism_trn to the tables of PrismCore. The setting on the second screen controls the FIRST transfer. Recommended setting is 20 minutes.
- In the detail grid, set the following parameters:
Section Import Path: Click the ellipses next to the field. You will then see the standard “Browse For Folder” dialog. Choose the file in which the store plans to place or FTP the import file.
Section Import Filename: When choosing to import a file, this field can, and should, be left at *.*. The *.* allows the system to recognize any file name of any file type as an import file.
Section Import Format: Most often, this will be tab delimited or comma delimited. Fixed length is also possible. The other options will generally NOT be used. Choose the format for the file.
Section Import Transport: There are two choices for loading import files, FTP or No Transport.
No Transport: This setting means that the store will manually place the import file into the proper directory (the directory you chose for “Course Import Path” above.)
FTP: This setting implies that the store will FTP the file from a given source. The source from which to access the FTP file is determined in the settings below.
Section Custom Import ID: This ID number is assigned by Nebraska Book Company, Inc. and is used to define the import or export format for custom interfaces.
FTP Server: This field is used to designate the IP address of the machine that has the import file on it, IF USING FTP TRANSPORT. If not, leave this blank.
FTP User: This field is used to designate the FTP user login used to connect to the machine listed above, IF USING FTP TRANSPORT. If not, leave this blank.
FTP Password: This field is used to designate the FTP password used to connect to the machine listed above, IF USING FTP TRANSPORT. If not, leave this blank.
FTP Directory: This field is used to designate the directory on the machine listed above in which the import file is stored, IF USING FTP TRANSPORT. If not, leave this blank.
Import Enables Deleted/Disabled Requests: This check box is used to control if the Section import can enable course requests marked as disabled in PrismCore Course Request module. When checked, if a section is in the Section Import file with an add command the section will be enabled in PrismCore Course Requests if it had previously been manually disabled in the module.
Section Import Fields: This drop down is used to select the Section Import format you will be using. Examples of each are found in the Section Import Section.
