Rental Fields in Order Decision Maintenance Partnership 1

The fields in the Order Decision Maintenance module used for rental information are: Rental New, Rental Used, New Rental Sales, Used Rental Sales and Rent Only.  Quantities for NBC Partnership 1 and Store Managed rentals appear in the Rental New, Rental Used and Rent Only fields.

Order Decision Configuration

By default, the fields appear at the bottom of the detail grid.  Use Order Decision Row Configuration under the Hammer to move them up in the detail grid, if desired.

Rental New and Rental Used

‘Rental New’ and ‘Rental Used’ display quantities rented for a rental title for the rental period(s) associated with the term.  These quantities are the total quantities rented, not current outstanding.  If 100 new copies are rented and 95 of them are returned by students at the end of the rental period, the Rental New field shows 100.  This historical information can be used as a reference when making order decisions for future terms.

Quantities are written to these fields when sales are posted, not as books are rented.

When a NBC Partnership 1 or Store Managed title is rented, it is recorded as a rental and not as a sale.  Stock-on-hand is not decreased.  NBC Partnership 1 and Store Managed rentals are not included in the sales quantity fields.  Only true purchases by the customer are sales.  The rental fields in Order Decisions will track the total number rented and posted to a term.

Example:  If 30 copies are sold and 15 are rented, the sales fields will show 30; the rentals fields will show 15. 

Rent Only

This field is used in communication with WebPRISM.  If a title is to be available on the web for rent only and cannot be purchased via the web, check this box.

When this box is checked, the title will display available for rent with rental prices on the web, but no purchase option will be listed.

This prompt does not affect rentals in store.  The title can be either purchased or rented via a POS/cash register transaction in the store.
