NMRP Return Reconciliation

NMRP Return Reconciliation

At the end of the term, NMRP rental books returned to the bookstore will either need to be sent to NBC or kept by the bookstore. The NMRP Reconciliation process is the tool in which those decisions will be made.

To reconcile the NMRP rental returns:

  1. In Rental Number Maintenance, access NMRP Return Reconciliation from the Hammer option.

  2. The Nebraska Managed Rental Program Return Reconciliation dialog displays:

  3. Select the Rental Session from the dropdown list. If you are not ready to close the session, you can use this dialog to view information from the rental session.
  4. Columns to note:

Rented Qty: The total number of rentals (new and used) for the book for the Rental Session.
NMRP: The total number of rentals for the book that were sent directly to NBC instead of going to the bookstore.
Store Returned: The total number of rentals for the book that were brought back to the bookstore.
Keep Qty: Entered by the store to communicate to NBC, this is the number of ‘store returned’ books being kept. NBC will bill the bookstore for all books that are kept as per the NMRP agreement.
Ship Qty: The total of Store Returned Qty minus Keep Qty for the book. This is the number of books that should be sent to NBC at the end of the Rental Session.
  5. If you want to filter the list to show only the books that have Store Returned quantities, you can do that by checking the ‘Show only items which have store returns’ checkbox.
  6. Enter the Keep Qty totals.
  7. If you would like to come back to make more edits, select Exit at the bottom of the dialog box.
  8. To complete the reconciliation and close the rental session, select Complete Account Session.
  9. A dialog will display, asking if you would like to close the session.  Select Yes.

  10. A notification alerts you that the shipment information will be sent to NBC.

  11. Close the dialog.
  12. During the overnight process, the system will automatically create a PO for the items you choose to keep, and will automatically receive those items.  This will get those items back into your stock on hand.

When to Close a Rental Period

A rental period should be closed after the store due date and before the NBC due date.  Give yourself adequate time to pack and ship the NBC titles so that they arrive at Nebraska Book Company before the NBC due date.  If you need an extension, contact your Wholesale Textbook representative.

You should close the rental period when

  • There will be no more rentals for the period.
  • Your rental due date has passed.
  • You have edited the Ship Qty column of the Nebraska Managed Rental Program Return Reconciliation to accurately match what is being shipped to NBC.
  • You have given yourself enough time to pack and ship the NMRP title so that they arrive before the NBC due date.
