Jumpbooks User Guide
About Jumpbooks
Jumpbooks are textbooks with enhanced functionality that are available in a digital format. Jumpbooks are sold through the bookstore, and are purchased at POS through the registers or on PrismWeb by customers. They can then be viewed by the customer, using a Basket ID and POS receipt number provided by the Jumpbooks service and your store.
Jumpbooks are traditionally lower priced than in-print books, and have enhanced features such as the ability to search the text for words or phrases, add comments, create bookmarks, and print from the local computer, making them ideal for today’s student population. Jumpbooks are available for your customers to access at the time they redeem their Jumpbooks.
Bookstore managers are able to manage their Jumpbooks through the Jumpbooks Management System (https://www.jumpbooks.com/manage). There, the managers will be able to generate hangtags, create Web-based POS purchases and refunds, print marketing materials, see a list of available titles, and more.
Issues to Consider
Several hardware, network, and software issues must be negotiated prior to selling Jumpbooks.
- The Jumpbook process communicates to the Jumpbook Server via the POS server. Thus, port 443 must be securely opened outbound on the POS Server, using the TCP/IP protocol.
- Receipts printed at POS must contain the receipt number.
- WPServer on POS must be configured by PrismCore and POS Support representatives.
- A/R must be enabled in PrismCore to allow the Jumpbooks to send information between POS and ICS.
