November 10, 2021 Mosaic Release Notes

Release notes statement 

New functionality added to Mosaic, may or may not be immediately available to active clients based on functional readiness or licensing. Throughout release notes the phrase “If enabled” is used to designate capabilities that may be turned on or off. Such options may be available to a limited audience or hidden until a future update. These options will still be referenced to in release notes to make clients aware of forthcoming capabilities. 

Digital Content/eBooks

If enabled, stores may now discover, adopt, and sell eBooks from VitalSource or RedShelf. Titles added to Mosaic course requests are shared for content discovery on a daily basis and eBooks available from the configured content provider are shown in Mosaic. Updates in Mosaic include:

  • Administrator > Store Setup > Parameters presents Digital Content settings that impact behavior throughout Mosaic. If enabled, stores may decide to auto adopt eBooks or review and select available eBooks within Course Requests.

  • Product Maintenance > Book properties shows Digital pricing, if available, and allows a user to request an immediate update to confirm current price and availability.

  • The Course Materials > Course Requests product list shows digital and print formats and allows a user to check for availability as titles are adopted.

  • Aside from on-demand checks, application services refresh available digital content and prices on nightly (changes) and weekly (full catalog) schedules.

Rentals

If enabled, stores may now set and manage store-assigned rental prices. Titles added to course requests are presented with selling price/cost information to inform rental managers and facilitate rental prices for active titles.

This new capability is supported by the following updates.

  • Course Materials > Terms > (new tab) Rentals configuration allows course material managers to configure rental period dates and default fees.

  • Product Maintenance > Book properties allows rental price management and presents the quantity of sold rentals to show the complete stock on hand summary.

  • (new menu) Course Materials > Rental Management provides a quick view to manage rentable titles in your store.

Product Maintenance (Books)

Book properties have been rearranged to support newly supported course material formats. The top of book properties now shows New (Sell & Rent), Used (Sell & Rent), Digital, and Trade formats in a straightforward view to easily manage prices and see stock on hand. Other shared book information is presented immediately beneath the different format summaries.

Reports

A new Reports icon and menu has been added to Mosaic. This menu shows reports available throughout Mosaic. Users may search and sort available reports to quickly find a report template. Some reports are also available via contextual menus.

New reconciliation reports have been created and are available in the reports menu.

  • POS Device Reconciliation – Summary of sales by POS device, by tender. This report also includes a summary of non-revenue POS transactions for daily auditing.

  • Sales by DCC - Summary of sales/refunds by POS device, by DCC for daily auditing. DCC details show transaction counts, gross sales/refunds, discounts, and net revenue.

Imports

Customer AR Accounts – A new import has been added to manage customer links to AR accounts. This import may add, remove, or update the AR details associated with any customer account to simplify financial aid and student accounts management.

Tax Rates Management

Administrator > POS Tax Rates menu has been re-organized for clarity and also validated for use with PrismPOS for accurate transaction tax calculation. Changes include the automatic assignment of tax rate expiration dates that ensure correct processing.

Web Orders

Web order processing including open, partial, failed, and complete orders is now managed within Mosaic. Users may print pick lists, work orders, process payment tokens, and print/reprint packing lists for shipping from within Mosaic. To unify PrismWeb and Mosaic applications, all processed orders update stock on hand and revenue reporting immediately.

Misc Enhancements & Fixes

  • Supplier Returns Address – An incorrect address ID that caused a single return address for all suppliers has been resolved.

  • Gainsight / Order Decisions – Field names to enable unique Gainsight identification were added to Order Decisions. This change enables contextual prompts as needed in future updates.

  • Customers – Mismatches between POS customer management and Mosaic fields have been resolved.

  • Variants – Mosaic now ensures unique values upon variant creation.
