How to Set Up Inventory Sales Tolerance

Inventory numbers of items on PrismWeb are updated throughout the day, when new data is received from PrismCore ICS (depending on your settings). Inventory Sales Tolerance is a feature in the PrismWeb Manager that lets you apply a buffer for inventory numbers on the website. For example, if you set Inventory Sales Tolerance for merchandise to 2, any merchandise items with inventory of 2 or less would be treated as out-of-stock on the website. This can prevent unwanted sales on the website when product quantities become low.
You can set up Inventory Sales Tolerance at different levels:

• Globally: affects inventory numbers for all textbooks, all merchandise, or all general book items
• Catalog: affects inventory numbers for all items in a catalog
• Product Family: affects inventory numbers for all rentals/SKUs in a product family
• Rental/SKU: affects individual SKUs or rental records

Inventory Sales Tolerance levels that are more specific (lower in the list above) will override levels that are less specific (higher in the list above).
Note: You can also enter a negative number for inventory sales tolerance, such as -999. This can be useful if you want to allow certain catalogs or products to continue to sell items, even if out-of-stock.

Setting Up Inventory Sales Tolerance Globally

1. In the PrismWeb Manager, go to Setup > Site Options.
2. Click the Enable check box.
3. Enter inventory sales tolerance numbers for textbooks, general books, or merchandise.
4. Click the Update button.

Setting Up Inventory Sales Tolerance for Catalogs

1. In the PrismWeb Manager, go to Products > Catalogs.
2. Click the Edit link next to the catalog you wish to modify.
3. Enter your tolerance number into the Inventory Tolerance field.
4. Click the Update Catalog button.

2. Search or browse to the product you wish to modify
3. Click the Edit link next to it.

Setting Up Inventory Sales Tolerance for Rentals/SKUs

1. In the PrismWeb Manager, go to Products > Products.
2. Search or browse to the product you wish to modify.
3. Click the Edit link next to it.
4. Under the Product Matrix section, click the Edit link next to the SKU or rental that you wish to modify.
5. In the window that opens, enter your tolerance number into the Inventory Tolerance field.
6. Click the Save button.
