Introduction to Textbook Requisitions

Textbook Requisitions (informally called TextReq) is an online system that integrates with PrismCore and PrismWeb. Faculty can submit their book selections online, by using historical course information, the NBC Buyer's Guide, or adding their own book.
Optionally, there can be an approval step so a faculty chair, dean, or other person can approve requisitions before they are sent to the bookstore.
Once a requisition is sent to the bookstore, they will need to be approved by the bookstore staff.

Sending Terms to Textbook Requisitions for Requisitioning

Before faculty can create requisitions for a term, that term needs to be sent from PrismCore ICS to the web, which makes it available to Textbook Requisitions.

  1. In PrismCore, go to Inventory Management > Textbooks > Term Maintenance.
  2. Select the location you are adopting for in the Locations dialog box.
  3. Search for the term you wish to make available for requisitions.
  4. In the Adoption menu for the term, select Open.

In approximately 20-40 minutes, the term will be available in Textbook Requisitions. You can check the Textbook Requisitions site or PrismWeb Manager to verify that the term is available for requisitioning

Note: The Update Web option is specifically for transferring course information to Textbook Requisitions. It ignores the Adoption Complete flag, and sends all available course information in the term.

Tip: If you want an open term to display on PrismWeb so customers can view or buy textbooks from completed course requests, you may check the Export to Web box after the Update Web process has completed. Course requests that have the Adoption Complete box checked will be available for customers to view on PrismWeb. If you add new course headers without the Adoption Complete box checked, you will need to run the Update Web process again in order for those new course headers to be sent to Textbook Requisitions.
